The “Diversity Imperative” has been launched to help support the career track of under-represented individuals interested in brand storytelling. From directors to videographers to editors and producers and all roles in between, this initiative will strive to increase representation in the brand storytelling workforce to reflect societal and cultural makeup resulting in more compelling and relevant creative content.
How it works
Individuals can apply here for admission to the program at no cost.
Grantees are offered the following services and connections:
Professional Certification Courses - Grantees are enrolled in 5-week, asynchronous learning experiences where they earn Professional Certificates in Brand Film and Purpose-Driven Brand Storytelling from East Tennessee State University. Instructors are industry experts who connect directly with grantees during lectures and office hours. Each cohort is sponsored by a brand that issues a real RFP in the first week of the course. Students work in teams to develop a response and deliver their ideas live to the sponsor’s marketing team. The 5-week course provides real-world experience as well as guest lectures from leaders in the brand storytelling industry who represent unique points of views.
Sponsor and Mentorship - Grantees are paired with a sponsor who will coach, advocate and represent grantees to help open doors of opportunity. Sponsors are individuals from industry with experience and influence that will support career advancement of grantees.
Attendance at BrandStorytelling Events - A number of grantees will be provided complementary guest passes to participate at BrandStorytelling events, including Sundance Film Festival and SXSW.
Community Involvement and Activities - Grantees become part of a growing community that gathers at in-person and virtual events. Social gatherings and webinars featuring industry luminaries provide grantees with ongoing connections and special presentations all designed to advance careers in the business brand storytelling.
